Car Sharing Marketplace
Markham Centre represents the City’s long-term vision for a vibrant downtown, combining mixed-use retail, residential, and office spaces, alongside the new York University campus set to open in 2024. Prioritizing sustainable, efficient, and equitable transportation for all travelers to and from this hub is crucial. The City of Markham's first and last mile challenge for the OVIN Demonstration Zone invites innovative solutions to enhance mobility for workers, residents, students, and visitors.
By demonstrating shared mobility options—such as car sharing—we aim to enhance transportation accessibility in Markham.
Purpose:
Test shared-mobility solution as a means to solve the first/last mile challenge for businesses and institutions in Markham Centre.
Expected Outcomes:
- Evaluate community adoption and feedback for the service
- Study impact on commute times and use of revenue earned from renting the vehicles
Company Description:
RideAlike believes accessing a ride should be as simple as connecting with a neighbour. They have launched the world’s first peer-to-peer car-sharing platform tailored for multi-residential communities, allowing you to rent or swap vehicles with people just next door. Turn your parked car into extra income, or find a convenient ride without leaving your building. By reducing the need for personal car ownership, RideAlike helps cut traffic congestion, maximize parking efficiency, and lower carbon emissions, making urban spaces more sustainable for everyone.
Discover a greener way to drive, connect with your community, and experience the convenience of shared mobility in your building, neighbourhood, workplace, and city—because life is better when it’s shared.
